«Δεν θα ξεφύγεις από τον Θεό…»

Το "God's Gonna Cut You Down", γνωστό και ως "Run On " και "Run On for a Long Time", είναι ένα αμερικάνικο παραδοσιακό folk – θρησκευτικό τραγούδι που έχουν ηχογραφήσει και έχουν τροποποιήσει πολλοί καλλιτέχνες από διάφορα είδη μουσικής (country, folk, gospel μέχρι και techno).

Οι στίχοι αποτελούν μια προειδοποίηση προς τους (αμετανόητους) αμαρτωλούς ότι όσο και αν προσπαθούν σκληρά, στο τέλος δεν θα αποφύγουν την Κρίση του Θεού. Ο Θεός λέει στον αφηγητή του τραγουδιού να πάει να πει στο ψεύτη με την μεγάλη γλώσσα, στον τύπο της νύχτας, στον περιπλανώμενο, στον χαρτοπαίκτη και στον συκοφάντη ότι ο Θεός θα τους κόψει όλους».

Πιο γνωστή και δυνατή εκτέλεση είναι του μεγάλου Johnny Cash από το δίσκο που κυκλοφόρησε μετά τον θάνατό του, ‘American V: A Hundred Highways’ (2006).

Ως "Run On" το τραγούδησε ο Elvis Presley το 1966

Το gospel συγκρότημα ‘The Blind Boys of Alabama’ περιέλαβαν το τραγούδι αυτό στο άλμπουμ τους ‘Spirit of the Century’ το 2001 που κέρδισε το βραβείο Grammy.

Δυνατή εκτέλεση είναι και η τελευταία, του Tom Jones στο άλμπουμ του (2010), ‘Praise & Blame’.
